Lots of new interests and disappointments

Well, let's start off with the bright cheery side shall we?

New interests:

Lost of new interesting stuff happened lately, ranging from new songs to listen to and to the recently flash flood that had happened right in front of my eyes! But the main thing I will talk about here is my trip back home during the study leave and the hours of gaming with and giving gaming counsellings to my bro. Yes, gaming is now that important in my life - it's actually one of the links between my own brother and I... darn, this is getting bad isn't it?

But, wow, where should I start? I helped him out with some BoE gear, got him his long-hungered for motorbike (in-game) and gave him tips on how not to suck xD I get to show off my stuff and gear too!

Also, on the IRL side, I get my wisdom tooth number 2 pulled out (Finally! lol) and although I had to get like 3 anesthetic shots to numb it just enough to not hurt that much - it still hurt but not much. In the end, I had a dizzy head and a weak body when I get home lol.

Ahh, and dad's special fish stuffed with asam chilli... mouth-smacking delicious! And having my mum fussing over me.. the joys of being home! :P

Disappointments:
Well, to start off, I have noticed that I have spent way too much time on WoW... yes I know I'm addicted and I need to get help but I'm still not actively finding help... The worst thing is that after gaming so long and neglecting my studies, I still don't feel very bad about it (well, I do but I just tell myself that 'you have that coming' and just move on, which is actually a bad thing).

I had just, I think, flunked a final exam paper. Yes, you have not heard wrongly... I have never flunked one and this is my first and I am not feeling very bad about it and am still thinking of gaming after I get back home... ughhhh. WTH?!

Secondly, although I have long knew this, but I have just confirmed it with NatGeo's sleep deprivation test - I am rather seriously sleep deprived (Quiz here: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2010/05/sleep/quiz/sleep#sleep). I have been sleeping between 5 hrs or less everyday and seeing how my studying is going on for finals, I may need to cut that down even more. But I do take naps - 2 hr naps! - that resulted in me having a very tired feeling and am even more unwilling to study.

The cause of this sleep deprivation? The main one is gaming! Again, WoW is ruining my life but I dunno... I don't feel like giving it up yet - though I do doubt, at times, my ability to give it up. There are some other causes such as watching movies/ series, insomnia (sometimes), late supper, song listening, facebooking, reading online articles etc.

I really need to get my life back in shape by getting back all the sleep that I need and I have to cut down on the naps. This is weeks of sleep deprivation I'm talking about, it may take months to get them back. >.< Also, if I can't game at night anymore, I can't game during the day (lousy net line during the day) - I can effectively reduce or stop my gaming sessions... am I ready to take that step? ... um, well....when I'm too sleep deprived maybe. Haiz, I still want to play but I want to sleep as well. I can't get the best of both worlds so I'll have to choose and although to most people it may be an easy question, to me it is hard as hell. I'll have to think about it (<- avoiding the subject again... haiz)

Gah, I'm feeling awfully tired right now. I'll need to get some sleep. Nite guys!

Talents

Seriously, what's with all these singing talents popping up everywhere?

Mentioning only those on YouTube would have filled the blog's max word limit - eheh, no lah but almost :P

First off, Boyce Avenue. Something like a Rascal Flatt's-kind of band. Love their more mellow songs and their covers as well ^^

There's Grayson Chance. Not bad vocals for a kid. AND he plays the piano too.

And there's Dave Days. He's actually rather good looking although a bit on the thin side (that's a good thing?). Most importantly, he can sing, edit videos and stuff, act and has a funny personality!

And.... Christina Grimmie. I love her voice though I've only heard her when she's dueting with Sam in Nelly's Just a Dream.

There's this band called A Common Year. Actually I've first heard their songs in Nightclub City (Seriously??? ...Yes, seriously :|) Surprisingly, they put up their whole album online for free! I'm not sure how to categorise them but they're a bit on the Simple Plan-, All American Rejects-kind of line.

Last but not, definitely not, least, Sam Tsui and Kurt. They're the best two combos if I've ever seen one (combo) that good! Sam Tsui has awesome vocals and can hit and hold the falsetto rather easily (I think). Kurt is one of the most talented video editor and producer I've ever seen (I've not seen many of this kind of people but still, this counts for something!)

I'm very sure if I hang around YouTube more often. I'll probably find some more singers/ bands that I like. Still, what's with this explosion of new talents huh? I can hardly keep up with the best songs now lol =)

Anyhow, good luck in building yourselves music careers! You guys and gals can make it! I'll wait eagerly for your upcoming official albums and music videos. ;P

Vampire diaries

It looks and sounds like a twilight rip-off and the series actually did, in my opinion, have some similar plot or storyline as twilight. However, although Taylor Lautner is quite ... unique :P ... in his own way, I gotta say Damon Salvatore (a.k.a. Ian Somerhalder) of vamp diaries beat all of them hawties =D

He's just the kind of bad-ass guy that shoots off lightning bolts from his eyes no matter what he does and plus he's a vamp so that counted for something. Alright, he's awfully good looking especially with that sly smile on and he's the kind of person who can actually make his eye twinkle whenever he wants it to (pro skillz!). He did play his role very convincingly. ^^ Stefan's not at all bad-looking but which girl would like a too-uptight guy? He won't be much fun to be around with, don't you think?

Anyhow, this series is great for checking out guys (there are hot girls as well but well, I'm not interested in those kind of stuff ya :P maybe some guy might wanna tho)... storyline? okay nia... and it does look strange that somehow, all the vamps concentrating on Mystic Falls all of the sudden (perhaps due to the return of the Salvatore brothers).

Eheheh, well, I'm off to play Dragon's Call for a bit more - finishing off my last instance of the day. Wish me luck in getting True* items =)

Working as a helper at the blood donation campaign

It's really awesome I think. I've met like 2 new friends (well, we spoke a lot :)), Quan Ee and a guy studying business :P I've met tens of other people as well - the donors.

It's nice to meet new people for a brief time. A bit of chatting with new people is kind of interesting and should help my anti-social problem lol.

Anyhow, it's a bit boring and tiring but, truthfully, after seeing those people donating blood, I'm seriously having second thoughts about donating myself. Since I'm about to be on medication, so I'll skip this time but dunno about next time. Till then, I shall try to remain neutral in this matter :P

Game update

Wooohoooo!!! Yes I know it's just a game and any achievements that I've gotten through it is practically useless in real life but I can only brag so much so please allow me to 'show off' about this: my mage has finally hit the 5.5k gs mark (have to regem and enchant a bit still :P)! Yes, you have not heard wrong. Well, my druid hit the mark first - 5565GS as of current. Now, I just need to get my DK into icc and try to get into icc heroics with my ret pally. My shammy's at 5.3k, priest nearly 5k, tank at 5.3k (lousy threat generation though), holy pally at 5.2k, rogue at 5k and hunter at 5.4k. No need to mention my lock coz I kinda gave up on it. It's so hard to play it well lol. I've also realised that I sucked playing fire mage - a ench shammy with like 600 less gs than me can out-dps me >.> OMG! I sucked that much?! But I certainly can heal with my tree :P need more haste still though.

I am also proud to say my ally druid is sitting at about 5.3k gs while my rogue, after having to relearn how to play combat spec, is having 5.2k gs. My ally shammy is also at the 5.3k gs mark I think. My pally tankadin is at the 4.5k gs though. Still need to work on it :P

And, now I've realised why some lowbie (low gs peeps) have, suddenly, a icc heroic gear... alt looting - that's why :| How unfair is that? Sigh. I have lots of alts so if I really wanted to alt loot, I would have rolled for every gear that dropped lol.

Well, that's all for now. I only have like a day or two left for gaming then it's back to crappy internet at Kampar and, if Cata updates come, no WoW at all! Sigh... giving up the game is really as bad as it sounds.... zzz

New Year Resolutions (2011)

1. Relearn programming

2. Take up French

3. Further my knowledge of Photoshop

4. Play less, write more

5. Get a CGPA/GPA of 3.75

6. Try to be more active in extra-co-curricular activities

7. etc etc

I'll add more as I see fit as the year goes on. :)

Time sink

Yes that's what WoW is. I can't believe I've spent about 60 days' worth of time (do the maths - 60 days x 24 hours = 1440 hours, including those time I just put my characters there and afk :P) into this game and I'm still a mediocre player but I can play most classes well enough. Is the game really worth so much attention?

I'd say yes atm. I know..I know.. most people would say that I am addicted and I cannot and will not deny that but I still strongly think that this game is one of the entertainment that I can get back in boring Kampar. I love raiding; I love PvPing (most of the time); I love to read about whatever stuff that the PWoW community is talking about; I love to challenge my skills by soloing instances.. though I really dislike farming for stuff. I love meeting new people but sometimes, when I'm not in a mood to talk, I don't (that's like 90% of my game time). I've also realised that arguing with someone over a game is rather childish and unreasonable though I'd get very pissed off if my loot was ninja-ed by someone. Don't worry though... I can get over it someday :P

Not to mention, I spent my other free time on facebook and its 'applications' (a.k.a games). That's almost my whole day spent excluding those hours I went for lectures and for dinner with my friends. I am becoming a super nerd of sorts lol.

No wonder my chair at Kampar broke! I must have spent so much time on it that its lifespan somehow got drastically shortened.

Oh wait, I've also spent many hours watching and rewatching movies and TV series on the computer. Wow, I do spent a lot of my time in front of the computer then! Especially in Kampar...

Gosh, I really need to get a life and leave the house more often. :| Maybe involve myself in more extra co-curricular activities or something.... I can't just whittled away my life. Another year has passed and I hadn't done anything really worthwhile yet. That's dishearting... like really dishearting.

Well, it's a new year and I guess I'll post up my new year resolutions (next post). I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that they can come true :)
